Title: Solder flux
Post by: Phil C on 08 Aug, 2020, 09:47
To solder a clutch cable nipple, I'm planning to buy a little blowtorch (cannister type), some plumbers' solder (leaded), and some flux. Can anybody please recommend a good flux for use with plumbers (leaded) solder?  Thanks in advance.
Phil.

Hi Phil,
           Everflux is the best.

Best wishes...

Thanks, Bess (long time, no speak.)

I see Everflux can be bought in a small twist stick (looks like a lipstick type thing.) As I only need a small quantity, that might be a good choice for me?  Anybody any experience of using a stick like that?

Phil

Screwfix do a small pot of La-Co flux paste for £3.49 which works well and has good reviews.

Hi Phil,
I have not used the stick type as I use lots so a tub is my preference.

To be honest plumbers flux is aggressive and needs to be cleaned well after use, I use electricians fluxed solder with a high silver content for my cables.

Best wishes
