Title: C15G fistful of trouble
Post by: TTJOHN on 22 Jul, 2020, 11:59
I have just taken the C15G out on the road for the first time since I bought it, did about a mile and half, in traffic and the engine died on me, found the spark plug had oiled up very badly,so, back home and I thought strip down the top end which I have done, the piston had quite a lot of impressions on it where it had obviously had broken rings previously the head also had been badly marked, valves removed which were badly worn on the shafts so a new pair ordered, I will check the wear in the guides later. The piston is a plus 40 o/s and I am quite lucky as I have an original BSA piston to replace it with, however, if some kind sole out there has a spare head knocking about in reasonable condition, I would be very interested in purchasing it.

Kind regards TTJohn

Sounds like a case of going back to seller; "speak softly an carry a big stick"  !

No, I would never do that, when I buy a bike I usually give it a good going over before I ride as I always expect things like this to happen, I always look on the positive side , for the sake of a few quid I'll have that running smooth as silk by next week, keeps me occupied.

I'll allow that is the least stressful option. Good luck with it, an many happy miles.
