Title: Black paint code 1953 A7
Post by: Howard on 15 Jul, 2020, 15:59
I have stripped my bike down and ready to paint the frame and tin work such as the mud guards etc.

Is there a specific shade / paint code  for the black, or should I use standard RAL 9005 Jet black?

Thanks

The BSA code was /007 Black Enamel. Black paint does come in different shades but I have never noticed a great deal of difference and the degree of gloss achieved probably makes a bigger difference. The original frame would have been stove enameled and the tinware painted with cellulose paint which gives a good gloss. Modern acrylic paint do not produce such a shiny finish and therefore needs a clear lacquer or clear cost to finish.
