Hi all,
Has anyone had any experience dealing with British MC Parts? They trade with an eBay shop and are based in Manchester, I think?
I recently contacted them on eBay and asked if a pair of chrome fork shrouds / headlamp brackets they were selling were UK made and not the ones that are coming in from India?
A guy called Wil messaged me back and seemed very upset that I had dared to suggest they were selling anything other than parts made in the UK.
I went ahead and ordered a pair and the delivery was very quick. Unfortunately when I opened the box I found 2 right hand fork shrouds. There was a card with a telephone number in the box, so I rang and spoke to Wil and told him that he had sent me two right hand ones. He said that the left hand one must be there somewhere and that he would post it out. He said that when I received it to send the other one back and let him know what the postage had cost and he would refund me for that. Which seemed fair enough.
The next day I rang to see if he had found it and he told me that he was having to contact his supplier, as he had gone through his stock and they were all right handed.
I messaged him on eBay the next day to ask him to please chase it as I would like to get the bike back on the road while the weather is good. He messaged me back with a very short and abrupt reply that just said; 'As I said I am on it'.
I'm not sure now whether to wait (for how long who knows?), or to send the two right hand shrouds back to him for a refund?
I haven't dealt with this supplier before and I don't particularly trust eBay feedback, so would appreciate the opinions of anyone who has dealt with them.
Thanks, Kev Ev
Hi Kevev,
I've not used them, however the story is all but familiar. I recently bought a pair from another supplier and they did not slide into the lower yolk without adjustment. When I did get them in the bolt holes did not line up.
Maybe worth checking they fit before making decision whether to wait.
Best wishes...
I bought a TR5T silencer from them last year took ages to come and fitted it 4 weeks ago , and fitting it was a nightmare the connecting pipe to the down pipes had to be re welded as did the rear mounting bolt holes so I personally would not buy of them again
Klempf's are good in USA or maybe burton bike bits
Thanks for the feedback Spike.
The guy hasn't come back to me for three days now, so I have started a return process with eBay and I am going to send him the parts back for a refund.
With him telling me he was going to get back to his supplier and it taking so long (and with the general quality of the items not being as good as you would expect) I suspect that he has sourced them form on of the Indian suppliers. I don't know this for sure of course but it feels like that to me.
I think I will give Wil and his British MC Parts a wide berth in future.
