Title: Concentric carb on B33
Post by: STEPHEN TAYLOR on 15 Jun, 2020, 19:18
I'm seriously thinking about buying a new carb for my 55 B33, is any one using a Concentric and can tell me what bore, cutaway, jets etc. I've looked at several forums but the advice is a bit mixed. Or maybe I'll just spend a bit more and put a new Monobloc on!
Thanks

Hi  Stephen,

I've just replaced my carb on my B44R with a new one and had a good service from Amal Carburetters in Salisbury, Wiltshire. I managed to get the original carburetter replacement and had several conversations with Amal regarding setting up etc.  You can contact them  at www.amalcarb.co.uk.

I've been running a mk1 concentric on my '53  B33 without air filter. All ok with the recommended settings. 230 main jet. Is affected massively by air filter of any sort and I haven't managed to make it work by varying settings as recommended by Amal. So yes fine without air filter - unsuccessful with air filter.

Thanks very much for your replies. I decided to buy a new Monobloc, bike runs much better, no backfiring, starts easy cold, warm or after a 30 mile run -  and it ticks over. I've bought 2nd hand carbs before but there's always been wear on the slide / body etc.
