Title: a65 losing power
Post by: easterndriver on 13 Jun, 2020, 17:12
Hi again
As regards the previous question about my A65 losing power, I have taken off the new pancake air filter and fitted the old one back on which I luckily kept and it is now running perfect. I find this very odd.
Regards

This is most likely a red herring. If your revs were rising but power not then it is definitely a clutch issue. The old air filter is probably somewhat clogged/restricting air flow which may suit your current carb setup. A clean air filter (new) may require adjustments to the idle setting of the carb.

Hi,

It does sound like the old air filter was restricting the engine and the clutch was holding just enough not to slip.  Just an extra bhp or more of a 'kick' at certain revs could well break the grip. Does your primary cover have two caps under a cover or was that the earlier model?  If it does then give the springs a turn or two and see if that improves things otherwise it is off with the cover to do the job.

Dave.
