Hi all,
During my restoration project I have been making a lot of bits and pieces myself, mainly from stainless steel.
I have been drawing up some of them and wondered if this sort of drawing would be of any help to other BSA owners?
Dimensions can be a great help when restoring old bikes and quite often the original bits have been replaced, or bodged beyond recognition, so I know from my own experience it's a big help sometimes just to see what the actual part is like properly. Rather than staring at a blurry image in a parts book that, quite often, is not really what the actual part looks like.
I have attached a pdf file of the 1967 BSA A65 (It's the same for all pre oil in frame models from 1966) rear mudguard bridge / top shock absorber mounting bolts and spacers as an example.
There are two of the 68-6906 left hand spacers because one of them is also used for the front lower mudguard mounting point.
I don't yet have the time to draw everything up but I will be making a library up as I go along. I am not too far of retirement and it will be something I can spend more time on in the future, so if there is anything that I may be able to help with just ask.
Regards, Kev Ev
Just a quick update.
On the attached pdf file drawing of my original post there are imperial and metric options for the spacers.
The dimensions shown on all options are metric. So the imperial option which shows the 68.6906 spacer length of 22.23 is actually a true imperial measurement of 7/8".
Unfortunately Autocad won't display both imperial and metric measurements in one project. Or, at least, if it does it's something that I haven't figured out yet.
