Title: Magneto refurb
Post by: Marktomblin on 29 May, 2020, 09:28
Does anyone know who or where is the best place to send my magneto to for a refurbishment please. I had one done before and was very disappointed with the results the replacement parts were cheap copies and didn't last very long, any recommendations would be very much appreciated thanks mark.

Tony Cooper. 110 Olive Lane. Halsowen. West Midlands. B62 2AG. 01215592405. He has done all mine. He has all the equipment and is ex Lucas.

Yes Tony Cooper as idie said. He gives a 2 year guarantee from when you fit it to the bike. i.e. if you are doing a resto and it's many months before completion, the guarantee period is not being eroded away unnecessarily.

Always been happy with Armoto. Not cheap but the only one I've used more than once!

Thanks all who gave suggestions as he is fairly close i contacted tony cooper and went to see him (social distancing of course), what a lovely guy, he has over a 1000 mags and several bikes too, all of his equipment is ex lucas, he took time to show me how some of it works brilliant it was well worth the trip. He is doing a full rebuild of my mag he even took the time and  showed me what faults mine had .Anyone thinking of buying a magneto would be advised to check him out first I wish I had it would of saved me time and around a £100 quid. Once again thanks all.
