Title: B31 oil leak - valve rocker inspection cover
Post by: sergeantpluck on 28 May, 2020, 20:03
My 1955 B31 is remarkably free from oil leaks, but I have noticed a small leak from one of the screws fixing what I now know is called the "valve rocker inspection" (little plate at the top of the pushrod tube).

All 4 screws are done up tight.

Any suggestions on best way to eliminate this leak?

Ideally a very thin aluminium washer - if you could turn one up, under the head would do it or a small thin O ring.

Another method would be some PTFE tape on the last few theads nearest the head of the bolt so the oil couldn't track up the thread.

Thanks Blackthou

I hadn't realised that oil was coming up the screw thread, but it's obvious now you've said it.
