Looking to pick some of you clever guys brains
I was hoping to shortly start building up my 1960 C15 engine. Hit a problem removing the sludge trap on the flywheel and fear I have damaged it badly. The picture is not great but there are still parts of the original bolt in the thread and other parts of the thread may be damaged. This caused me to look more carefully at the flywheels and conrod. The conrod appears to be a 40-48 but the flywheels are steel. According to Rupert Ratio - if I am reading the book correctly this combination should not exist.
Am I correct and will it work when rebuilt - if it can be rebuilt after my sludge trap disaster. Any thoughts appreciated
No replies so i decided to bite the bullet and get the needle roller conversion done. Not something I would tackle.
Any suggestions who I send it to?
Aren't Aplha Bearings near Birmingham the one's to go to? I believe it's an exchange unit.
I did not know Alpha did exchange units - I will be on to them first thing Monday
Thanks for that
monday, bank holiday
So it is. Every day has been like a holiday recently. Tuesday it is Thanks for your help
I bought my C15 end of Jan 2020. It had an old invoice, among the paperwork, from Alpha Bearings. I rang them up saying the'y had my crank and what was the conversion they'd done and was told that they're exchange cranks. Whether they take yours then do one they've got as an in and out I've no idea. Just wanted to highlight what I was told as opposed to giving the impression they had them on the shelf in case they don't.
Fair enough
Either way would be fine just need to get out of the hole I dug myself into
If I get the needle roller bearings I can kid myself on it was all part of the plan
Thanks again
