Title: BSA B33 1947 Gearbox sprocket dimensions
Post by: AndyL on 19 May, 2020, 21:36
Hi all, my first posting so please go easy on me.
I am struggling to locate an 18T gearbox sprocket part number 65-3370 for my rigid B33 of 1947 vintage. At least that is the part number I believe I need.
I have been sent one from a company in Belgium, but it appears to be too big. The main diameter is about 31.76mm and 35 mm across the splines, with a protruding boss diameter of 43.8mm
My B33 gearbox shell has part number 65-3394U. The mainshaft fitted has the gearbox sprocket dimensions about 27.8mm diameter and about 30mm across the splined dimension. There are 6 splines. The gearbox shell diameter for the sprocket boss is 41.7mm.

Can anyone confirm by measuring their gearbox mainshaft dimensions (if you have one available) that mine is the correct one, and I have indeed been sent the wrong part.
Secondly any suggestions where is a good place to look for one that will fit?

Thanks, Andy

I bought a sprocket for BSA 1946-47 gearbox from British Only in Austria. The sprocket is smaller in the hole than the later gearbox model

Thanks Gustafsson, that is exactly what I wanted to hear. So there is a gearbox sprocket required for my bike with a smaller diameter to suit the mainshaft. I have contacted the supplier in Belgium of the one I got from them and advised I thought it was incorrect. He is going to check and get back to me. If this does not help me I will certainly follow up with your lead. Much appreciated.
