Title: b31 alternator
Post by: EDDIE SIMPSON on 21 Apr, 2020, 20:22
resigned to having to strip down engine at some stage as barrels oily and metal in oil pump found. i thought i could finish off chain alignment and rotor fitment and guess what? i tighten up the drive side nut and i lock up the crank as there is no endfloat. i ve read in a very vague engine strip article that crank spacers do wear. is that whats happened here?

well, i have been playing around with endfloat today and it seems that the 0.002" endloat means that the stator has that amount of movement along its keyway. not good engineering practice .i think i ll make alockwasher from d/s bolt to lock stator.
