Title: Under tank wiring
Post by: grizzly on 15 Apr, 2020, 16:40
Hi. My first post on here, so hello, pleased to find new friends

First a confession. My BSA is a Blazer, but I know it was born a BSA. I'm sure there will be more knowledge here, so I hope you can help.

I recently bought the Blazer, luckily just before the lockdown, so it's been a great distraction. It needed recommitioning as it clearly hadn't been loved for a long time. Outwardly tidy but with some modifications. There was a Gold Star style tank fitted. Which completely changed the outward lightweight good looks. An Amal MK2 carb, which works ok, but had an odd mounting which pushed it into the air box space. Airbox not fitted. There is electronic ignition and a twin plug 2 coil system fitted. There's extra breathers in a couple of places, so possibly once owned by someone with knowledge.
I've found a nos 2 gallon tank and repositioned the carb. Sorted the oil leaks.

It's looking tidy except for the wiring under the tank above the alloy box. There's been some alterations to the wiring to accept the new ignition, but it's a proper rats nest.

Can anyone help. Perhaps you have a tidy B25ss/t or T25SS/t or even a B50SS with tidy wiring. If you have would you be prepared to post some photos of how it should be or any alterations you made to improve matters

Your help much appreciated
Kev

Hi Grizzly,
Welcome to the forum. I'm reasonably new too as I bought a C15 a couple of months back and have been seeking knowledge.

My wiring had some dodgey additions, together with some poor use of modern crimps, so I bought myself a proper crimping tool together with bullets and connectors and have been busy sorting. I looked at what wasn't right or how it could be improved and set about it methodically, area by area.

I must say I'm pleased with the results but at the end of the day looks standard and unmolested. In another words, it doesn't reflect the time and effort put in.

Enjoy your tinkering and some pictures would be nice.

I'll definitely be getting correct connectors and wire. Without a photo though it'll take some guesswork to make a tidy job. Thanks for your reply.
