The speedometer face on the Smiths Chronometric of my 1936 Blue Star has always looked a bit warped. Took it apart at the weekend to find the face is a homemade photocopy printed on what looks to be thin card. Doesn't look that bad but I would like to swap it out for a decent replacement. Any suggestions on a good source? I've looked at the items for sale on Ebay but not convinced of the quality.
Also, acetone on a cotton bud to clean the numbers?
Thanks,
Stuart

I popped in to see these when my WM20 speedo stopped working. Checked the speedo out for me while I waited and announced it was the speedo drive that was kaput.. Forgot all about them ::)

I think that's a definite No for acetone to clean the numbers (I presume you mean the odemeter and tripmeter).
Alan
I think acetone would likely attack and dissolve the paint. Something gentler required I think - or send it away and have it all professionally cleaned.
Cheers,
Bernie
