Title: Oil tank fittings (1965 B40F)
Post by: Phil C on 11 Apr, 2020, 17:59
Evening all,
I'm about to take my oil tank off. Can I just check something please, so I know what to expect and don't mess up? The two bolts which you can see near the top and bottom of the photo appear to go through a bit of steel strip which is lap-welded to the inside of the oil tank. Obviously I need to undo those bolts. Am I right in thinking they screw into a captive (welded on) nut on the other side of the strip, and then stop short of the tank skin?  The captive/welded nut must be quite thin? Thanks in advance.
Phil

Re my previous post, obviously when I say the strip is welded to the "inside" of the oil tank I mean the inboard side. Phil

No replies to my query but anyway I've taken the oil tank off and see that the securing bolts screw into a couple of bosses inside the tank.
