Title: A10SR rear brake plate
Post by: Mitch77 on 10 Mar, 2020, 20:28
Hi all
Having a few problems with what I believe is a distorted rear brake plate
Currently fitted with a 42-6314 fixed cable abutment upward lever plate due to this number being like rhs ( older riders will know what I mean lol ) I have obtained a new old stock 42-6357 plate with separate cable abutment / anchor pin and downward lever which I am looking to fit seems to be quite straight forward swap over all Comments and pointers welcome
Mitch

The cable run may be an issue.

The 1958/59 type with lever pointing up has a cable bracket on the frame which is about horizontal.

The 1960 type with lever pointing down has a cable bracket on the frame which is angled downwards to provide a smooth cable run.

Hi Julian thank you for your info it has been a great help I have now identified that the brake plate I have on the SR is incorrect indeed it should be a 1960 down lever type 42-6357  not 42-6314 as fitted
Apparently frame FA7 is upward and GA7 is downward new ( old stock )plate on it's way
Thanks again
Mitch
