Yes, there is a special tool 61-3063. The lip of the cup is threaded and the puller screws into that then its expanded to lock it in place. They do occasionally turn up on ebay etc. I paid a touch under 40 quid for mine.

dont you believe it!!!

our B40 does NOT have threaded cups.
a case of an old wide screwdriver fairly thin end and as the smallest bore is around the same size as the head stock hole work around the joint with the screwdriver and hammer. maybe a bit of heat to open up the frame to make it easier.

I have read that one method is to drill a couple of small holes opposite each other at an angle through the body of the cup holder that would allow a punch to knock out the cups,
hope this makes sense,

one thing for the future, if you think you are keepingthe bike a while either purchase threaded cup sets or as a added thing, cut a couple of slots in the cating faces to allow a bar or screwdriver access from the opposite side and vice versa

 Hi Sid
If you're not planning to reuse them it's often possible to weld a bolt or bit of bar across the inside of the cone and tap it out from the opposite end , it worked for me on an A10 years ago
Just make sure you don't weld it to the frame regards Mark

Just to confirm my last post, have fitted a set of l.f.harris cups and cones to the B40 today, neither upper or lower cup or has a thread. They do look well made and bore slightly smaller so may be able to knock out as normal modern bikes.

What a strange and apparently ill-mannered response. Am I being called a liar? Why is the word NOT being 'shouted'? If your reply is meant to say that some cups are not threaded, then why not simply say so? To then go on and suggest that screwdrivers be used as drifts and that holes be drilled in a frame does tend to indicate a rather Neanderthal approach to maintenance.

Meanwhile, I hope Sid gets his problem sorted.

 :) :)

If you have access to a mig welder, run about a one inch weld around the inside face and the bearing will probably drop out into your hand.

I have new cups and not threaded, and old ones still in, not threaded, tried the old chisel job..no go, I have ordered a tool which expands and grips the cup, then you belt it with a bar through headstock.

you might have a problem with the tool, the bearing cups are hard and smooth so it probably wont grip. the expanding tools Ive seen rely on spreading out under the cup and hit from under to push out. the B40 cups are same size or smaller diameter than headstock bore.
if it does not work the weld process or a dremel and cut the cup out may be an alternative to the screwdriver in any possible gap, remember that any damage on the face will need cleaning off flat again.
