Title: Trying to find a pre war BSA
Post by: BeardyBikerAlex on 27 Feb, 2020, 15:55
Im trying to solve a puzzle that someone might be able to help with.
A friends grandfather owned a BSA from about 1939. The registration number was BNN472 (or possibly 13NN472, but unlikely) as it is scribbled into an old BSA Motorcyclists Pocket book (I have attached a copy). It also shows that he (John Marriott) made his first petrol ration draw on 25th September 1939. Its unlikely he bought it from new as he was a man of very modest means and had two young children to feed.
We are trying to find out which model it might have been and indeed if it could possibly be still around. We've looked on the DVLA website but nothing there. Any help would be very gratefully received! Thanks.

BNN472 is from a Nottinghamshire series used between March and June 1935.

Info from Glass' Index to registration numbers 1929-1965.
