Title: BSA C15 Crank Sleeve
Post by: Mascott on 18 Feb, 2020, 10:28
The Crank Sleeve (Prt No 40-0042) which runs inside the Crank Bush (Prt No 40-0389) on my 1960 BSA C15 can rotate on the Crank shaft and is a sliding fit.
Is this normal? there does not appear to be excessive wear between the sleeve and the bush and as both are quite pricey (if available) so a little reluctant to buy new.
Help appreciated.

no, normally the bush is a press fit on the crank. as a double check there is a bush withdrawl puller so if it was meant to spin free they wouldnt make a tool.
you need a micrometer to check the diameter, if the bush spins while running it can cause more wear to the crank.
