Title: B 31 frame and engine ID
Post by: Odd Bits on 09 Feb, 2020, 21:55
Hi
I am new to this so have read all info on the web site about bike identification and year etc, but none of it matches the engine and frame number I have.
Engine number GB31,1524
Frame number ?B31.1355
it would be good to know for parts numbers etc.
I would be very pleased if anyone can help
It is a B31. it is still registered with the DVLA the previous owner says he has the paper work but is not fast in finding it so any info would be great
I would attached photos but not worked out how to do that yet

Hi,
Its a B31, engines GB31-101 to GB31-1909 are from Oct 1957 to Sept 1958 and frames FB31-101 to FB31-2572 are from Oct 1957 to Sept 1958.

Best wishes...

40 years ago some owners would swop a bent frame for a straight one but as the mot never used to ask for frame numbers, they didnt  restamp. some frames were overstamped with the new number. my older mates say there was a lot more british bike theft going on in the 70s as well. i would have the frame restamped the same as the v5 asap or the reg number will be taken of you by dvla.
