Title: C15 big end
Post by: C15FT on 31 Jan, 2020, 11:03
Hello
I hope someone can help me.
I'm rebuilding a C15, (engine no. C15FT
335 it seems to be 1965) I bought a big end for it on eBay and was sold as new but with no protective coating on it. The mechanic pressed the pin into the flywheel and everything fitted fine. However when it's spun in one direction the conrod moves across almost like it is treaded and locks against the flywheel. When it's turned the other way, again like it's treaded, it moves across in the other direction. Has anyone any idea what's happening or what we might be doing wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Brendan

Hi Pete
Thanks for the link
We took the conrod off with the outer shell of the big end still in it. We then honed only 0.25 of a thou off the inside of the bearing shell, reassembled it and as if by magic it all ran true with no issues -:)
Thanks again
