Title: Full width Gold Star hub
Post by: BARRYRGS on 08 Jan, 2020, 11:47
Can anybody give me the dimensions for the wheel bearings for the full width Gold Star hub, I've purchased 2 sets and neither is a sliding fit. I've not even tried to fit them because of this.

The offside is aluminium attached with Allen screws to the cast iron brake drum, if I remove the Allen screws can I separate these 2 parts.

Help please!

The bearings part 65 5883 are standard RLS7 (LJ 7/8) bearings. Dimensions here;

https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=1&keywords=rls7

I would expect them to be a pressed fit not a sliding fit.

Thanks for the bearing info.

I should really buy a gauge, but I would only use it on rare occasions so it seems a waste!

Yes push fit into the hub, but sliding fit on the spindle

Hi,

I have a full width hub which is aluminium/cast iron but I always thought it was a Norton/AMC item.  Would you mind posting an image of yours for comparison.  As for taking it apart, I have never tried but would be wary just incase it never goes back properly - probably tightened up in the factory.
