Hello everyone just been out trying to run the bike in done about 200 miles haven't changed the clutch plates on the bike . before setting off in the morning clutch felt like it was sticking on a bit did an 80 mile run worsened and the last 8 mile the cable was fully adjusted on the handlebars barely got home the bikes a 65 thunderbolt .
did you have to adjust the clutch when you were out ie take the slack up on the cable?
Check the centre nut holding the clutch hub is still done up tight.

yes but ran out of adjustment
Hi Fereday,
Open the primary inspection cover and check the clutch adjuster on the clutch pressure plate. Check the push rod ends, are they worn due to incorrect adjustment? Is the push rod plunger in place and is the ball bearing within the plunger there, and in good order?
Good luck...

as Julian said check adjuster nut, I had a similar problem but it was caused by clutch pushrod that didn't have hardened tips and flattened gradually when I was out and ran out of adjustment! ???
Push rod ends worn, check the lenth of the rod 11 1/4", plus check that the ball in the arm is still in good condition, I had one recently where the ball was flattend down to the arm. HTH

Hi Fereday,
I fit a clutch operating rod 11 1/16" long, with a diameter of 7/32", BSA part number 68-3229, hardened both ends. SRM and maybe other systems provide a roller conversion where the rod is shorter.
The rod can be made yourself using silver steel and hardening the ends or Draganfly can supply for less than £10.
Best wishes...
Just to clarify, my though was that the whole clutch has come loose because the centre nut has come undone, the taper separated, and the clutch just driving on the woodruff key.
The basket hadn't come loose.I stripped it down and tightened them actuator up on the end of the cable to the lever.looking at the cable I think it got stretched thanks everyone for the advice.
