Title: Clutch question
Post by: MJM_58SR on 16 Nov, 2019, 16:41
Can anyone tell me if the clutch gear wheel should have lateral movement between the back plate and the centre piece (not the boss on the spindle) when the clutch is depressed.
The inner race on the clutch wheel seems a bit wide to me and allows movement or have I got a piece missing?
My clutch parts and sizes match the parts book
It's a six spring clutch
Thanks

My 1948 M21 has a 6 spring clutch and i've had it stripped down to see why there is so much movement. I've now concluded that it's a poor design and i'm going to live with it (unless someone on here can advise how to fix it)

I don't  think I have ever had a clutch that don't float about on a British bike.
