Title: Identifying my 65 BSA A65
Post by: interceptor65 on 02 Nov, 2019, 23:58
I purchased an A65 that sat in a chicken coop for many years. The restoration is coming along nicely but I still don't know exactly what model I have. My interpretation of the engine and frame number indicate it is likely a 1965 A65 Thunderbolt Rocket. This bike has the speedo in the headlight bucket, a plate on the timing case where a tachometer could be hooked up but no tach installed, single carb monoblock, chrome front and rear fenders, 6V electrics. The numbers are as follows:
     Engine#: A65C 1822
     Frame: A50 9908

I have found and ordered a copy of Roy Bacon's book which may help.

Hi,
The Glass's guide gives it as Sept 64 on, A65R Rocket, mods as for A65, with rev counter. Discontinued in Aug 1965.

Best wishes...
