Title: Reassembling front brake
Post by: Phil C on 19 Oct, 2019, 16:32
Just putting my brake back together (1965 B40F). A few basic questions:

1. Does it look right?
2. The large central retaining nut doesn't need a washer, does it?
3. How should I tighten that nut? Holding the brake on I still can't get it very tight at all before the spindle turns with it.

Thanks again.  Phil.

It looks OK - compare with the photo I posted on your other thread.

The large nut does not need a washer.

I tighten the A10 one by using a spare fork bottom fixed to the opposite end, failing that clamp spindle in soft jaws in the vice. If the brake plate rocks on the fork leg tongue it can loosen the nut if not tight enough.
