Finally got the V5 from DVLA and took the bike for its first ride out after the rebuild.
It starts easily, idles nicely but is rough and stutters on pickup from about 1/4 throttle.
Feels like it's a carb problem - any thoughts about diagnostics please?
Thanks,
Bernie
I would say needle /main jet.
wrong clip position, worn, bent

Thanks Chaz, will check what's the recommended slot - may need to drop it a notch or two I'd guess.

Stripped carb again, checked all jets as spec, needle pos 3. Still the same problem, nice idle, misses and won't pick up.
However I also noticed that when i tickle the carb it takes ages to flood and sometimes doesn't at all.
So, now wondering if it could be a sticky float needle - although when I've experienced this on other bikes the vibration of the engine once running has always seemed to fix it....

Bernie
Have you checked the float bowl fuel level?
Latest update.... Checked the fuel level using the trick of a clear, flexible pipe as a U tube pushed over the idle jet after removing the cap - level with the dot on the side plate of the Monobloc.
I now think that this may be one of those carb issues that's actually down to electrics! Rode out with freshly charged battery and all was well for first few miles then the stuttering returned and eventually the bike died. Horn made a brief sound like a dying sheep and then nothing. Ammeter was moving in the right direction with revs but I suspect still discharging as the battery is new.
I've converted the original 6V alternator to 12V using the commonly accepted method and have decent A.C. voltage. Next step is to measure the D.C. current through the battery and check the rectified voltage. I intentionally bought a cheapie solid state rectifier/regulator from eBay thinking that as it's such a simple device spending more would be unlikely to be beneficial but I'm now beginning to wonder.
Anyone else had any good or bad experiences with similar devices?
