I believe the 1952 and 53 models had the 'Flying Wing' type badge.. HTH

My tank has the speedo in and has no screw holes to insert a badge?

Pre- 1950 ish tanks had the speedo in the top yes.  You have to remember that in the intervening years lots of P.O's will have added or subtracted from the 'as it left the factory' spec. I gave the correct information for a 1952 model year bike. HTH

From the 1952 catalogue, frame prefix ZC.

The 1953 models with frame prefix BC were made from late 1952 and had the larger badges.

Thanks Ian and Julian. Going to strip the tank paint see if there are any hidden holes.

I think you will find the holes have been filled, if you use a sharp pin and check the measurement of another tank, I had to do this once but I cannot remember the rough measurement, I know I measured down from the filler cap then from the front across, it does not matter if you mark the tank using this method as you will cover it with the badge anyway.

If your careful you can drill this out & re-tap to the correct size, I had to do it on one of my tanks, use a very small drill so you can get centre, I think it's only about a 16th of an inch, then try to get the old broken piece out with an extractor tool.
