Title: battery care
Post by: MICKREEVES on 03 Oct, 2019, 09:36
i have replaced the battery several times on my C15. I would like to fit a capacitor instead.
What sort of value should be using!

Not sure what you mean.
Why are you having to replace your battery often? Perhaps the cause needs addressing first.

I agree with AdrianS !!
Is your charging circuit working?

From memory a C15 is a coil ignition so you are going to need a battery, these days I buy the burglar alarm type and modify the connectors accordingly. They are available from your local battery supplier (I use Bristol Batteries) and certainly available in 12v. I suspect you should be able to get them in 6V. Otherwise get a Cyclon type battery. I had one in my Velo Viper for nearly two decades , it was still working when I sold the bike last year..

.... and get a modern electronic regulator.   The originals weren't very good originally and with the passage of time they don't get any better!

The DVR2 is very good and seems to be bullet proof.   The one on my AJ survived losing the ground connection when the bullet fell off the wire from the loom.  Once the problem was found and rectified it worked a treat as before.   Other commercially available regulators may not be so reliable - usual caveat, I have no connection (excuse the pun) with the company I'm just a satisfied customer.   One is sitting in the cupboard awaiting fitting to my B21 just as soon as I get round to the electrics.
