Title: Cracked footrest boss.
Post by: Davidat19 on 23 Sep, 2019, 19:39
Just discovered that the wiggly footrest is due to a crack in the boss. Seems to be on the built up braze/weld.
Which begs the question...do I weld it with my mig welder or get it brazed? Wont be any need to pull the motor (I will disconnect the battery).

What does the BSAOC think?

David.
If it is brazed then you will not be able to weld on top, as the two don't mix but I'm sure you already know that, so you will have to braze up the crack.

TtJohn...yes....i will mtfu today and get the grinder on it to see what is under the paint. I suspect its a poor weld. Rather than add more poor weld i will probably take it down to a local blacksmith (we still have them here in wales!)
