Title: Gear Change Quadrant
Post by: Mike Farmer on 18 Sep, 2019, 16:41
 :) :)

Just about to start to repair gear change Quadrant. I've got a couple to choose from-----I thought.

Has someone hacked a bit off one of them---I cant find any evidence to suggest it left the factory like this.

my view is that its either been broken off or cut off, why? the shaft pivots in a bearing using that diameter so should be there.

Hi Chaz. Its a definite cut. (I seriously cant imagine how it would get broken)

thats a strange one then, all the ones Ive seen pivot on that diameter in a bearing while the splined end rotates in the ally casing, Drags do a replacement splined end or will do it for you but I would have thought without the plain diameter yours is missing, the quadrant could float around making gear change worse than normal?

Yeah I sgree with that. I'll put a new shaft in the good one, then extend that "cut part" to the correct length on the other. and fit a new shaft. As well as Draganfly  there's a guy doing them on E. I've bought one of those but before I fit it I'll have it tested for hardness. It appears to be bright steel, but as its nice and shiny it could well be basic grade mild steel. Foolishly I never queried it before I bought it. Don't wish to fit something that will show wear after just a few hundred miles.

I'll keep you upsides with the situation.

Take care
