Title: Battery charging time
Post by: Phil C on 12 Sep, 2019, 20:21
I took my 1965 B40F out today. rode 4 miles to the nearby town, twenty minutes' shopping, then four miles back. Open roads, so reasonable speed.  The ammeter was showing +2 or 3 amps throughout the ride. Would that be normal over that distance? Does the fact that it didn't return to zero mean the battery is not very good? (I charged it a week or two ago.)  Or would it be normal over that distance to have that kind of reading for an okay battery?   Phil.

I wouldn't trust the accuracy of the bike ammeter that much. As long as it is showing a positive charge then I would be happy!

Okay, thanks Adrian, my understanding was that the ammeter would slowly revert to zero when the battery was fully charged. Phil.
