Title: B40 valve questions
Post by: chaz on 01 Sep, 2019, 12:35
while the bottom end is away Ive been looking at the top end of our B40 (1965 US import)
head is a 41-211   6stud big valve  type.
Ive re lapped the valves but am looking at replacing but having trouble identifying from Wassells catalogue.
Exhaust  at 1.409" head dia, .309 stem dia and 3.465 length. is a V212 so presumably B44
Inlet 1.541 head dia, .3095 stem dia and 3.506 length cant find an option? any ideas

Inlet springs are double , outer is 1.687 long and inner 1.530 long
Exhaust is 1.677 long

can this be confirmed only one spring on the exhaust

been reading through Ruperts book, the pictures shown have slots in the rocker shafts, to help line up and set clearances, ours dont have slots any difficulty without?

Below from an old Alpha catalogue gives the valves V numbers but no dimesions.

Draganfly list the inlet 41 24.

Exhaust valve also has inner and outer springs. The SS engine used the same springs as Gold Star

thanks Julian, V223 (41-24) seems the best compared to my sizes and GS Valves site http://www.gsvalves.co.uk/assets/vintage-motor-cycle-catalogue.pdf
dimensions at back of catalogue.
