Title: Rear brake shoes
Post by: royblackburn1@btinternet. on 28 Aug, 2019, 12:49
Having changed the rear shoes on 1966 A65L QD hub when taking the spindle nut off behind the fork was a spacer and washer, when I was to going to replace the hub I looked in the manual and it showed only a spacer if the washer was to be replaced it didn't leave much room for the flats of the spindle to sit in the forks so should the washer have been there in the first place any answers please. Hi,
Here's images of mine. 1 with spacer and thin nut, 1 with washer wide nut.

I got the nut to pull the fixed spindle flats into the swinging arm to the shoulder without lateral movement (the thread of the fixed spindle not binding in the nut).

Best wishes...

Thanks Bess, I think I might try with just the spacer so more of the spindle flats are in the swing arm slots and check the wheel runs true. Roy
