Hello,
Im hoping someone can help as im pulling out my hair. I recently had my motor rebuilt i have now refitted it and reconnected everything. Well now i have no spark on either side...my battery is fully charged...lights...horn work....the ammeter deflects with the lights on...however doesnt move when i switch on the ignition (it did prior to removing the motor).
I have a boyer power box fitted and Pazon ignition...which i have tested.... working off their test procedure and it gives me a spark.
I have new coils....leads....and plugs...everything worked fine before removing the engine.
I have just spent 2 days checking earths and cables for open circuits...and now im thinking i cannot see the wood for the trees.
Does anyone have any pointers?
Please bear in mind i am not an electrical genius 😎
Regards,
Mark.

in all fairness, none of us are, Mr Lucas concocted his items to self destruct without notice. they came with built in gremlins...
sounds to me like a wire is crossed somewhere. possibly on the coil/s . I did it once.
another option used to be its short circuiting through the points without the fibre washer, but as you have electronic?
the old "bad earth" was a cert on resprayed frames.
the Triumph wouldnt spark on reassembly, well, it did but due to battery being duff there wasnt enough to power the spark visible.
as an associated posting, I dug the Laverda out from the back of the garage today, fitted a new battery and fed fuel into the carbs...
it hasnt started since I bought it from a customer 8 years ago, not got round to restorng it.
pushed key in , ignition light came on and turned key to positions 1 and 2, no lights no ign light. wtf, new battery, checked charge 12.9v checked fuses, tapped earths and connections, still no lights , kill switch off.... still nothing...
on the 1970's Laverdas you have to put the key in the switch and push it down, then turn the switch on.... hey presto ignition light, 2 presses of button and it started and ran....8 years and old fuel in carbs topped up with fresh. and sun was beating down. happy happy.
you might have wires crossed under ignition switch?
So you did the Pazon test of disconnecting the leads and touching them together briefly and got a spark at the plugs?
That should rule out many things such as coils, leads, plugs. It points to a problem with the trigger unit I would think. Maybe weak magnets?
Another thought: With the Boyer, you have to kick the bike over with some speed, a slow kick won't do it.
Likely the same with Pazon.
Thanks for the rapid responses......ok im going to check the ignition switch again.
I did the Pazon spark test as per their advice and i did have spark.
👍👍
OK.....solder on the rear of the green trigger unit circuit board was actually shorting out on the magnetic ring.
x2 washer under the mounting screws and hey presto I have a spark.
Cheers for the suggestions above.
