Title: A10 wet sumping ball valve
Post by: chaz on 30 Jun, 2019, 21:35
finally got round to dumping the oil from the sump, and petrol!!
the ethanol has eaten away the fuel hose and attacking the tank liner but thats another story!!

Ive fitted anti wet sump devices in the past so NO NEED TO DISCUSS, the engine is a  ZA10 dating from 1950, looking at the parts manual I  intend to fit a new spring and ball but am having a problem looking at the parts book. The pressure relief valve spring and ball are numbered, is this the ones to replace?
there looks like a ball bearing at #84 on the drawing but not listed on the parts list any ideas??

On the parts list 84 looks like a locating dowel or tube for the oil feed and return.
On my engine it doesn't look like it comes off easily.
You're right there is no mention in the text, but I don't think it's the scavenge pipe ball.
Can only guess that the ball is part of the  73 "scavenge pipe complete". It is not numbered separately in my parts list.
Just had a quick look and can't find anyone selling the assembly - sorry.

67-1463 is the Draganfly part number but they dont list it, ironically the gasket is not numbered by them but is in the parts book!!

67-1400 and S9-2 are presumably the parts? but as I dont need to or want to strip the engine I wont be changing

The anti wet sump ball (1/4 inch diameter) and spring (67 1400) are accessed  via a grub screw (67 1401) situated inside the crankcase adjacent to the main bearing bush. The ball is held captive by a smaller diamter drilling behind the oil pump. Unfortunately you need to split the cases to get at it.

thanks Julian
my thoughts exactly, dont want or need to work on engine so will leave alone. just have to remove sump plate every so often.
