Title: Questions about forks and tanks
Post by: ClintB on 16 Jun, 2019, 07:08
I finally found out what I have for a bike due to the nice people at owners club that looked up my bike numbers and I have a 65 spitfire matching engine and frame. Thought I had a 64 so good to know since there could be minor parts differences. Anyway when I got the bike I grabbed anything I could get that I thought I might need and I grabbed wrong on almost everything.  :'( The bike was missing almost the full front end which I have managed to find most of it I think and now trying to figure out what I should do with stuff.
1. I grabbed a set of Ceriani Arces forks that look like they would fit the bike. I managed to find an orig set of forks that I picked up so trying to decide which to use. Not sure the real difference other than looks as I have never owned a bike. Attached are pics of the forks that were on it that are some non brit bike and then the Ceriani. If anyone can give me any suggestions I am open.
2. I have a tank that I think is correct and just missing the side badges but not sure as the paint on the tank is not even close to correct and just flakes off to a shinny almost chrome that looks like it has been sanded for paint.

Attached are the photos for all this and if anyone can give me info on any of it I would be grateful.

Also forgot to bring up this bike when built was headed to the USA and is still in the USA so not real sure it would have had the standard fiberglass gas tank 68-8082.
