Title: Voltage at rear light.
Post by: A10 JWO on 22 May, 2019, 16:35
My bike is running fine with a Pazon Mark 8 ignition, new gell battery showing 13.5 volts on trickle otherwise 12 volts. Headlight is nice and bright. Just rewired a complete rear loom to the new rear light assembly. Whilst testing my new wires I found that I only have 10 volts with the lights switched on by the ignition switch. My Fluke meter seems fine. Is there a voltage problem please ?

Yes, measure the voltage at the switch, IN terminal should be battery voltage.
So should the OUT terminal when switched on.
Remove the fuse, or disconnect the battery and put the meter probes across the switch on the resistance range.
In the OFF position the resistance should be open circuit (infinite Ohms).
In the ON position it should read short circuit, 0 Ohms.
If the above test is OK then check the wiring to the rear light.

BTW, 12V is very discharged,  a fully charged battery should read 12.6 V.
6 cells at 2.1V = 12.6 V.

Cannot start the bike as the petrol tank is in the paint shop, hope to have it back next week. Thanks for replies to date.
