Title: C10 3spd gearbox studs
Post by: Rick Rybicki on 20 May, 2019, 13:01
Hi All, I'm not a regular poster but I need a bit of help. I've recently become the proud owner of a '46 C10. Barn stored for 50 years. Got it going and registered but have a problem with the gear box. It's missing 2 of the long studs and nuts and the one short stud and nut from the bottom of the outer case. I've managed to replace the short stud with a bolt but need at least 2 long studs. Any advice please. I've got a horrible feeling that one of the studs has sheared in the main case........if so I think the box will have to come out.....
Thanks, Rick.

due to age and without knowing for certain, I would say get a digital or vernier caliper, you need:.
diameter probably 5/16" or 3/8"
length from outside of frame or casing down to bottom of casing.
thread probably BSW (reason being, course thread in Ally = better stronger thread) could be BSF
allow approx 1/2" to 3/4" inside the casing for thread and also around the same for nut and washer .

all you then have to do is use a ring die to cut thread.
It could be possible , if you can find a parts list to check Draganfly or Wassells

Thanks, I'll probably have to go down the DIY route. Draganfly have them on back order. I'll try Wassells. Cheers, Rick.

as a trade dealer I find if out in one place its out everywhere else, more times contacting Tricor and others they are waiting stock from their suppliers, one cable came in to Tricor but wouldnt post out until after being packed in their packing. found to be a Wassells part.
Wassells buy many consumable items mainly overseas, we buy 10 from them and sell to public in ones and twos. Specialist parts being made by SRM, Draganfly and Harris. hence the reason for having my own lathe, at previous unit I had a cnc mill for bigger work..
