Title: C15 Primary Chain Tensioner
Post by: NEIL M on 16 May, 2019, 22:32
Hi Everyone.

I joined the club a few months ago and regularly log in for info and a little light entertainment.

I'm restoring my 1961 C15, which is going quite well so far. I still have to buy a couple of 17" wheel rims because the ones I purchased two years ago are 1 x 1 spoke pattern not 2 x 2.......................does anyone want any new stainless WM2 x 17 x 1.85 1 x 1 dimple pattern rims, I think they'll fit some Bantams and Bantam Cubs, I know that they're right for the front only on early Triumph Twenty Ones/3TA's.

Anyway, getting to the point, when I stripped my engine there was no primary chain tensioner fitted, is this correct or should it have one?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not standard for the Star at that time (thinkit came for 1964 models) though many will have had one fitted.

Thanks for the information Julian.

I think I'll leave it as it is, Its not as if it will be doing many miles when its rebuilt.

For a start I have to pass my motorcycle test, a bit of a daunting task at my age!

Can anyone recommend a good training school near me in Gloucestershire? I'll be doing a direct access course in order to ride the C15
