Hi all. I have an A10 frame and 3 engines can anyone tell me what I need to do to see if one of the engines is matching to the frame thanks. Colin
I'd suggest starting here: https://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/engineandframenumberintro.html (https://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/engineandframenumberintro.html) and working through the links to check the range of engine numbers that could match with your frame. Find the year that your frame was made and then see if any of your engine numbers fall within the range quoted. That's all free and will at least tell you if it's possible.
If you do find a possible match then use the Machine Dating service to request a search of the factory records for your frame which will provide the engine details. https://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/machine.html (https://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/machine.html)
Cheers,
Bernie
On the home page you need to click machine identification and follow the links where you will be able to find out the year of manufacture for your frame and engine numbers if you find that one or more engine numbers match the same year as your frame then to confirm if they were together when dispatched from the factory you will need to contact the librarian Steve Foden who for the required fee he will give you a dating certificate which will tell you all you need to know including the date it was dispatched and to which dealer it went to, how to do this is on the website.
