Title: C12 gearbox problem
Post by: Joe L on 18 Mar, 2019, 16:53
Recently completed  re-build of a 1958 C12 and am having a problem with the gear box. I have replaced all parts and am able to select all gears until I put the outer cover on. Any advice please.

Hi Joe,

I am a newbie to British bikes but had a similar problem with a Spanish trials bike and that turned out to be a shim missing causing the casing to lock a shaft.

Probably not much help but you never know.

Ride safe,
Andy

Hi Andy.

Thanks for your reply. I was given some advice from somebody else locally (word of mouth) and was advised to use a thicker gasket to allow tolerance in the gear changing mechanism. It worked. I knew it would be something silly but straightforward but my frustration did not allow me to see clearly.

Thanks again.

Joe
