Title: B40 SS90 shocks
Post by: berniej on 17 Feb, 2019, 17:58
Not sure if these are the same throughout the B40/C15 range but mine have no adjustment and I can't find a way to dismantle them.

Is there a way of removing the covers for refurbishing?
Were adjustable shocks fitted to any of the 250 and 350 unit singles?

Thanks,
Bernie

Hi Bernie, the C15 and B40 road bikes always had non adjustable shocks. The off road versions and all other unit singles had adjustable shocks.
The non adjustable ones require a special tool to compress the spring up under the shroud and release the two chrome collets.
Rupert.

It is possible to compress the spring, without the special tool, but tricky.
I have done it, but 55 years ago.

Thanks for your replies. As they seem to operate well I think masking tape and some black gloss will be the simplest option  :)

Cheers,
