Title: Positive or Negative earth?
Post by: oorwullie on 18 Dec, 2018, 13:16
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question!
I have a 1956 B31 in boxes,as a project.
I'm buying bits as I go along, and went to order a new wiring loom.
The site I went to order from asked if it was positive or negative earth?
So, how do I know? The original loom is missing, do I order a negative loom and hope for the best?
Any advice would be great!!

Cheers Wullie

1956 would originally be positive earth.

Thanks for the information!
Think I will order the positive loom.
What that effect anything if you wanted to upgrade to 12 volt?

Cheers Wullie

Just to make things less certain, my '53 rigid B31 is negative earth, 6v. But maybe that's when they changed polarity.

The 6 volt positive earth wiring loom is just fine should you decide to go for 12 volts. I presume you have an E3L dynamo.
