Hi
Just purchased what I was told was a C15 in bits however the rear wheel is 18" so I assume its come from a B40? It does not fit the C15 swinging arm but I would like to put an 18" rim into the bike anyway, so my question is can I modify the B40 hub to fit the C15 frame by machining the casting? The casting number starts with the 40 prefix so am I right to assume the castings are the same in both the C15 and the B40 but are machined differently to give the different chain run? The rear wheel spindles for both models are different so would changing the spindles have an impact??
Any assistance would be appreciated.

i would try and get the correct wheel, having to machine a good hub to suit sounds like a pain.
Even then it might not be quite right.
It can end up being a real hassle trying to make parts fit.
cheers

Hi Derek
Thanks for the reply, I understand I need to alter the chain run by machining sprocket spacers even if I use the C15T hub that I have? Do you have any knowledge on the different spindle sizes etc. I realise its a bit of a mission but wondered if its possible and what's involved?

I have some C15 rear wheel parts for disposal if that's any help.

Hi tim
Thanks for reply, I would love to understand the difference between the C15 and the B40 rear wheels in detail. I am hoping there is someone or a group of people who can detail the difference. The hubs that I have are undamaged and are in good condition so if I could get those to work it would be great!
The key questions are:- what is the length of the C15 and B40 axles, the diameters appear to be the same as they have the same nuts and adjusters
What is the difference in the hub castings, they look very similar but there must be differences?
The problem I have is that I have now purchased two C15 hubs that have turned out to be B40 hubs, so I am not sure what I am buying??
I needs some one to verify the sizes so I can confirm which is which!
Hope this makes sense?
