Hello all,
I have just purchased my first BSA can anyone confirm its age etc.
engine number ED7B 27404
FRAME D734019
REG IS OEB765
it has no V5 but i have an old tax disc, will i be able to get a VD on its original number plate?
Where is the best but also the fairly priced online websites to buy parts from?
IS anyone with a D7 in or around Oxfordshire?
Many thanks in advance.
Mine is a 1963. Frame D722902 registered 11/01/1963, so you are close my friend. Good luck.
The bike is late 1962.
OEB765 is from a series issued between August and Deceber 1962 by Isle of Ely.
You will need more than a tax disc to reclaim the old plate - some document which links frame number to registration number, most usually an old log book.
You could research the Isle of Ely records, if they still exist, to see what information is held. These records do not often hold information to link frame and registration The Kithead Trust website will tell you if the records still exist.
Lots of information on the BSAOC website on reclaiming an old registration and for registering an old bike with an age related plate. If you do not have the evidence to link frame and registration then the age related option is the only way.

Websites are not the only way to buy the parts you need. Try some of the established dealers, noy everything is on a website and some of the parts on offer may not be the best quality. I use C and D Autos who have been in business since the 1940s 01564 795000, Burton Bike Bits, Kidderminster Motorcycles, Draganfly also long established.
