Title: A7/A10 Dual Carb Head with Conversion
Post by: ghl on 23 Oct, 2018, 13:34
Was a member of the Owners Club 10+ years ago when I was hoping to get my A10 back on the road - 10 years later, back in the Owners Club  and finally I'm getting there! It hasn't seen the road for 30 years (last run by me in 1988). Also getting from my Dad some spares that he'd collected over many years.

Wondering if anyone can shed some light on one of them. I have a twin carb cylinder head (part number 67-1102) that I think is off an early A7SS or similar that I think he'd bought from an autojumble in the 70's or 80's.

The only strange thing about it is that it has a 'conversion' part attached to it stamped up with MEL-SPEN CONVERSION on the top and BSA-A10 on the bottom. See attached photos.

Can anyone give me a clue about MEL-SPEN, if they've seen anything like this before or any info. I've searched the web but can't find any reference to MEL-SPEN at all.

Looks like a well made conversion, we have one that looks like it was made in someones shed, its fitted to an A10.
Works well seems to go better or maybe it sounds faster!
