Title: Petrol in oil tank A10

Hi All
I have started refurbing my A10 SR
On removing the oil tank i have found it contaminated with petrol any pointers on the cause of this appreciated

The carb must be flooding and with an alloy downdraught head the petrol will leak into the cylinders. From there into the crankcases where it will be picked up and pumped to the oil tank. More common on Norton SS models which have a steeper downdraught head.
Shouldn't happen if you keep the petrol tap turned off when not using the bike. Check the carb float.
