Title: Bsa 1924 H2
Post by: technotony007 on 08 Oct, 2018, 16:23
Greetings all,
I recently purchased a frame off eBay to embark on my dream of building 1922 model H2.  I am in need of locating the following :

- The ridge part of the swingarm frame. I have the top piece, but not the apart that the rear wheel bolts too.

- The engine mounting plates , which bolt to the main frame , holding the engine in place.

My plan is have the frame as complete as possible , so I can graft a choice of engine into it.

any help which be much appreciated.

regards

tony

Please can anyone help.

Hi all,
I was also wondering if anyone could comfirm , which amal carb is fitted to my machine. from the manuals it does not refer to the throttle body size or the amal number. the engine I am going to fit is an M20 500cc.

regards

Tony

Hi Tony,

I may be a language thing (me being Dutch) but what is your aim? A model H2 is a flattanker with a rigid frame. It can house a number of 1920's engines but will need some special engine plates if you want to fit an M20 engine. Although I can't think of a reason to use a frame with lousy brakes with an M20 engine. I have a model H2 of 1922 which is under restoration but I would never consider riding it on the road outside a closed off event. The brakes are so utterly useless but it will do 60mph easily. Up to and including 1922 the model H was fitted with a BSA carburetor. The M20 was fitted with an AMAL 274/014R of 276C/1B.

Regards,
Leon

Thanks Leon,
much appreciate your help with the type of Amal Carb to use. My intension is to fit Drum brakes , as I do intend to ride this bike from time to time , on nice days and enter it in rallies ,etc. The M20 engine which I have already , will unit I start with , but Intend to eventually intend to end up with  a V twin fitted , something that looks like the attached picture.
