Post by: mashermick on 18 Sep, 2018, 18:08
1st time post.. rebuilding my 59 s/r engine I noticed the idler pinion should have a "oil seal" found a cork washer about 4 mm thick, boiled it and forced it when soft onto the 1"diam pinion  ,now its to thick to get the timing side inner cover on ,should I cut it in half? is this ok to do

The cork seal is fitted to the idler shaft where it comes through the inner cover into the dynamo chain compartment. The dynamo sprocket then goes on trapping the cork between it and the inner cover.
